My Little Mime, Not the Creepy Kind.

I don't actually know how old my kid is so I just say she'll be 2 in December. Saves us all from doing basic math. I can't figure out where this almost two year old came from. Maybe the cupboard?

Dude, I feel like December is a blink away and I haven't wrapped my brain around a two year old yet. I'm not dreading it though because every day she gets a little more fun. These pictures are from a goofy grin she gave me with her mouth full of milk. I did the grin back and thus it went back and forth long enough for me to snap a picture of it. Makes me think of her milk face when she was just a few months old.

The mimicking has become a favorite pastime for her.

A couple weeks ago I was making paper cranes for a project and left some of the paper out. That night while I was out, she would grab a square, spend a couple seconds crumbling it in different ways and deliver her "crane" to Husband, repeat ten times. We have also found her carrying a crowbar from the mid-remodeled bathroom, as well as a small sledge hammer. She will also nab our toothbrushes given any opportunity.

She also enjoys dumping things on the ground, exclaiming "A mess!" and proceeds to get out the broom and dustpan. I wish I could harness this desire to clean. Brings to mind this graph.

Since she has mastered the sliding and climbing of chairs, I have a sous chef whether I want one or not. I couldn't ask for a cuter one though. I do wish she knew that relish goes into the bowl of tuna instead of tuna in the jar of relish.

AZ Museum of Natural History

I was meandering the library when I happened to snag the much coveted culture pass to the AZ Museum of Natural History a.k.a. the dinosaur museum. Dude, it is a cool little museum downtown and I've been keen on going for awhile so two free passes may have led to a 90's style elbow jab of happiness.

I invited my dear cousin Bri to join in on the adventure with her wee one. Unfortunately terrible lighting combined with my daughter's energy led to very few usable pictures, plus I am working on enjoying the moment more than trying to document it. Here's a glimpse of the place should you have a dinosaur lover in your home.

There was lots to look at, especially if you were about 8 in taller than J. It's all good though, she gravitates to anyone  around 5-7 years old because she thinks she's their age.

There was a statue to hug. He didn't hug back.

There were a few things her size.

Like this little javelina. "Dog. Dog."

I'm missing the days when she would actually sit in a stroller for more then ten minutes. I don't even bother bringing one now since J insists on pushing it unsuccessfully instead of sitting in it. I miss having something to put my purse in though.

J also found a room with her favorite thing in the world, mini chairs.

Forget the crayons, she just likes the chair.

K did not like the chairs.

Totally kidding. Someone had just stolen some of his blocks and I thought the expression was priceless. I love that kid.

They also had an outdoor section where kids could pan for gold. Or splash in the water trying to figure out how those 7 year olds were doing it. No pictures since I was focused on keeping J above the water instead of under it. They also had this really cool archaeology corner (SHADED!) where they could brush off fossils. I think could make it into a successful career.

It was a really fun little museum with just enough to do for about 2 hrs and not so much that you leave feeling like you missed part of the cool stuff. It was also set up so J could walk around and touch and explore with minimum interference from me. I would totally do it again should any family come into town.

Wedding Present Fun

Wedding season for the Phoenix area has begun! This little pinterest gem has been one of my new favorite little crafts. You fill an empty ornament with strips from their wedding announcement.

Then another bride I helped decorate with was gaining the monogram of Q and was sad to see an utter lack of it anywhere. I had seen some salt dough ornaments around the interwebs and wanted to give it a shot. You just roll out dough and stamp it however you like. And I figured J would let me work while she played with play dough. Win-win right? Yeah, she lasted maybe three minutes before she decided what I was doing looked much cooler.

This bride had a lace, pearls, pale pink and light green, Anne of Green Gables feel to the reception so I figured she would actually appreciate a little embroidered dishtowel. Thankfully my Merry Miss embroidery sampler prepared me for real life.

Made Up

Nothing like a Clinque lipstick sampler to get a girl excited.

Until you get caught

No remorse though.

She even offered to give me a makeover. So generous.

Someone snuck into the craft room and stole the dress form's boa. No question on who wore it best.

Working at the Carwash

I was outside mowing the lawn and cleaning out the dog pool when my scrub brush disappeared. I'm glad to see she takes pride in her car ownership.

She is quite pleased with herself.

Then she notices her audience

And of course yells, "CHEESE!!!"

And then shows off her good side.

Let Me See Your Sushi Roll

My friend Lindsay sent me the link to the most awesome crochet pattern ever and I finally got around to making it.

Every time I look at this picture I sing "blub, blub, blub" from this little ditty and book. Thank my niece for that youtube gem. She also modeled her little finger on the right.

So what makes this little fishy cool? HE'S A TRANSFORMER!

He turns into sushi!

I can't help but think it is a little dark. I'm not sure if I would be as tickled with a little chick that turned into a drumstick. Actually, I take that back. Yes, yes I would find that funny.

Still the coolest piece of crocheted food ever. Pattern here (p.s. cad is the Spanish abbreviation for chain st. A small translation error made me comb the internet for a cad stitch tutorial)
