Fancy Cake

Every since my sis-in-law's wedding, I wanted to try my hand at making a fancy cake. I borrowed the top tier cake pan from my mom and played with some fondant.

Seriously, fondant is just play dough for big kids. It has just as many tools you can buy, but a little more expensive. Both taste gross.  <---really funny comic.

Of course, I didn't really feel like eating this cake, so it became the inspiration for the group birthday party for my 10 year old girl church group. The left over batter magically filled 12 cupcakes too. Add in one rousing game of pin the tail on the donkey and you have 7 very happy little girls.

Have I told you recently that you are amazing?

Impressive. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to be good at everything you try. Maybe you're a mutant ...

Looks like you're off to a great start with fondant. I have also been wanting to give it a go. You have inspired confidence.

Definitely tastes like play dough to me. It is fun to work with though. There is a good tutorial on how to frost a cake with fondant on the internet. I had been doing it wrong for a long time.
