No, (maiden name) portraits feature all of my ugly childhood glory in a grass skirt, kimono, safari outfit, mexican twirl skirt, and many more. I didn't figure out that wearing matching costumes was unusual for family portraits until I turned about twelve.
For the past five years or so we have abstained from traditional costumes in favor of the wedding variety. Now there are four grandkids in the picture and my papa asked if we wanted to go typical LDS, or try and have the next generation of progeny convinced that costumes were normal.
And so for those of you wondering why I was scouring facebook for a fairytale costume last minute, I present to you the (Maiden Name)s
P.S. We're Jack and Jill. And I wore that dress in my fifth grade play at 10 years old, junior miss at 17, and at 24! John's response to this fact: "You were a scary 10 year old."
That is WAY cooler than colored t-shirts. I thought you were Hansel and Gretel (sp?) way to re-use a costume! The question is where did John get his?

I wanted to ask you to write a post with some of the pictures and to tell the stories behind them. Specifically the safari outfits and mexican dresses! Too funny that i would remember those 2 of all of them and then see this post! LOVE IT!

ReplyDeleteChild of Brother 2 is a unicorn and she was probably dying of heat. And I'm glad my husband didn't die that day either :) If John thinks that you were a scary 10 year old that's ok because I put on a shirt from elementary school and realized that I'm still smaller around the shoulders now than I was in 6th grade. Seriously.

ReplyDeleteWow. Yes, finally it makes sense. I was thinking, "um...does she know Halloween is still a few months a way??" haha. Anywho...that's SO fun. I wish my family wanted to do stuff like that! Love it.
ReplyDeleteANd, you asked if I had tried the milk pill things. And the answer is yes. I have. And they work. I just eat way too much dairy to keep eating pills every time I want some...that would get expensive...well, an unnecessary expense I guess. Maybe. And, it's exhausting to have to keep reminding myself to eat a pill when i'm going to eat dairy. So, there's the proof If I were a diabetic I would die. I much too lazy to take pills in order to eat food.

ReplyDeleteI agree that there is more to do "back east" than in Arizona. I was telling Sam that I have no idea what a tourist would do in Arizona. Grand Canyon? That's all I've got.
this is so awesome.. i think JD and I need to convince our children (when we have them) that costumes are also normal. He may object, but I don't see that stopping us =D see you sooN!
